Phase I orthodontic treatment at ARO focuses on guiding healthy jaw development and creating the foundation for a lifetime of confident smiles. Phase I is limited treatment and is not always recommended for your child. We pride ourselves in not over treating patients, but we will advise early treatment if it is indicated. Dr. McKee and the American Association of Orthodontics recommends a child to see an orthodontist by age 7 to prevent and intervene early when indicated. Phase I is usually recommended to improve cross-bites, narrow arches, crowding, blocked out permanent teeth, finger habits, social concerns, and possible airway concerns to reduce the chance of something more complex developing later.
